The thing is, us Brits will tip at the end and if its only been above and beyond the expected good service.
If they want a tip, they should have to really earn it, not just expect it.

In YOUR country its customary to tip for best of the best service.
In OUR country its customary to tip regardless unless the waiter/waitress was a real ass.
Do you see the diffrence the Y makes? What is perfectly acceptable in your country is not acceptable in our country and the sooner that concept is accepted the experience of a forigner visting another nation will be bettered. General ignorance of the customs of another nation when visiting them is what causes the local anamosity towards that particular tourist group.
And then you wonder why people give **** service if they still get tips anyway. Your customs are backwards and illogical, but that's not anything different from what we've come to expect, is it?

Originally by: Barsexual I'm a waiter and when you come to our restaurant and we hear that English accent, we know you are either going to stiff us or tip very poorly no matter how well you are treated. Sorry but minorities and foreigners rarely tip well.
Then like every other service sector you do your job with a smile.

Originally by: Barsexual The tip is part of the waiter/waitress wage. Most of them make less than $4 USD an hour. And many have to split that with the other people that worked that table like the bus person.
Not our fault is it. It's yours.

I'm saying that I can already predict how much a table of people are going to tip before we even speak to them. How is that my fault that you guys refuse to leave a tip in a country where it's customary.
When I go to Europe I try to make sure to understand and learn the locals to not be such a jerk. The English seem to ****ing care less. Go back home.
And isn't it customary that that country gives great service? Oh wait...
